Bio:
Born to a local angler in the town of Poole, Helen Em developed a passion for music at an early age. From the age of 8, she would often sing to the nighties pop band “steps” alongside her friends. This childhood experience helped to shape her musical journey and, as a teenager, she was already writing her own music performing at her local school.
When she left school, she suffered from mental health issues and isolated away from others. Later on, with encouragement from a friend, things looked up hugely. For many years, music was the key to resolving her issues.
Sadly, in 2019, Helen’s dear mother, who had spent a lifetime supporting her with her music, passed away and always told Helen, “Helen, go for it” she later began feeling withdrawn. After a brief break, Helen dedicated her time and energy to making more music, composing the track (Free) a dedicated piece of New Age music to her late mother.
Helen kept sending her music composed demos to everybody she could think of. Some would reply with a summary of “Beautiful, calming, peaceful” for Helen. This was rewarding and kept her following her dedication, even if it led to nowhere. Until now, her journey has only just began.
